House of Dereon Interview Gets Shut Down in Chicago...

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI wasn't even gonna post this, but after watching it, I felt compelled. I first saw it at Juicy News, and I gotta tell you, the stuff is just not all the way together in the House of Dereon camp. First of all, why stop an interview just because you don't like the question? At the level that Beyonce has risen to, they should know that everything that comes at them is not gonna be positive. You should be prepared for whatever. And this isn't the first time I've seen Tina get all defensive. Where are their handlers? Do they even have a PR person? Because to me, when people witness defensive type behavior like this, people are going to naturally assume the worst. The interview felt real "amateur-ish" and Beyonce seems really "plastic" and too "rehearsed", like a performer and not a real person. And they should be waaaaay past bumbling through an interview this way, but you read it then watch it, and let me know what you think... The headline says that Beyonce cut off the interview, but it was really Tina... Beyonce just sat there like some kind of clueless wind up doll, and if I sound harsh, I'm just getting real tired of seeing them exhibit this same behavior over and over, so if you don't see it that way, I certainly welcome your point of view...  read more »

BOBBY BROWN DEMANDS CAR FROM TV ONE?: Singer reportedly wanted wheels in exchange for appearance.

You gotta admire his hustle. In the wake of Bobby Brown’s impending divorce from purse string Whitney Houston, the “King of R&B” is rumored to be hard up for cash, as well as transportation. According to entertainment journalist Jawn Murray, Brown agreed to appear on a new show for TV One, but only if he got a vehicle in exchange.  read more »

Did Jeffrey CHEAT on Project Runway?

Project Runway producers "did a very intense and thorough investigation" of accusations that Jeffrey cheated.
{Story below} Jeffrey Sebelia has been investigated for cheating on the runway collection he presented at Fashion Week. Laura “Bennett told the producers she believed Sebelia had outsourced his sewing—which would disqualify him,” according to New York magazine.  read more »

Beyonce's House of Dereon Shows at Macy's

Beyonce's House of Dereon Line showed yesterday at a dress rehearsal for the 2006 Macy's Glamorama in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There is something about the House of Dereon clothing line that's just like... meh, to me. But maybe that's just me. Her stuff is a bit pricey, but I do think the sweater with the short shorts is kinda cute... don't really see anything else I like a whole lot about the rest of it. What do you think? {Click pics for a closer view}  read more »

Super Crazy Top Model Chick...

Gentrification: We Live In The Suburbs, Baby

Due to GENTRIFYING DEVILS, I- city girl number ONE, now live in a suburb. Ain't that a bitch? Now, this is my first one bedroom, so I am super fucking geeked over that. And I'm literally 5 minutes outside the city. But it's not fair!!!!!!

For real, y'all. Once again, Black (and Brown) people have sat back and let the white man come and take what he wanted and leave us with the scraps. Some of us were honestly powerless, some were railroaded and bamboozled, others didn't give enough of a fuck to do anything about it. I wish I had done....something. What, I don't know, but something. I was in high school when gentrification phenomenon became crazy obivious to me in my hometown (Chicago). As my neighborhood was racially and economically mixed (on some gangbangers meet college deans meet back of the house restauraunt staff meet Louis Farrahkhan type stuff- LOVE IT!), the effect there wasn't as profound. Although some apartments went condo leaving some of the lower-income peeps out cold. When I came to DC in 2002, I could tell that the neighborhood surrounding Howard was hood, but slowly changing. When I moved in to a dorm that was in a more residential area of the neighborhood (2003), it seemed like I saw new white people moving in every day.  read more »

Possible Project Runway SPOILER ALERT!

These are a few looks (I liked) from the Project Runway designers final [Fashion Week] shows. I'm not sure why all 4 of them showed, but maybe Project Runway producers knew that photos would get out so they didn't want the viewing audience to know exactly who made it to the final 3? I don't know. Anyway, if you are one who doesn't like to "spoil the surprise" my suggesstion to for you is to click away now... but hey, if you seriously don't care, check out some of my fave looks from the Project Runway Designers final shows! {Click pics for a better view}

Awww Yeah. Countdown to B-Day...

Ring the alarm! And, NO, it's not for Beyonce, but it's for my BIRTHDAY which will happen exactly 30 days from today! And anybody that knows me, KNOWS that I make a big huge deal out of my birthday every year, and if you don't know... now you know. One month from today (October 12) I'll be turning a year older but today starts the countdown! So in an effort to help you to get to know me a little better, within these next 30 days, in between my fabulous style and entertainment posts, I'm gonna try and help you to get to know me better, starting with my My Space page! Hey! I'm on My Space! Still don't completely understand My Space (took me like an hour to figure out how to add a friend), but I have a page! And 2 friends! Well, one of 'em is "Tom" and I think he becomes everybody's friend when they sign up... but anyway, check me out, as a couple of my colleagues kept telling me I needed one for my biz... And, for ONE MONTH ONLY, to stay in the "celebratory and festive mood" of my upcoming birthday, you can "boogie to your best ability" to my "throwback old-school hip-hop mix" cuz this fashionista is straight old school son (ok, that was real fun to type :-)... Born in the 70's and grew up in the 80's like me? Just like to "break it down"? Don't hurt yourself on the old school mix... let the countdown begin!
