 Chamillionaire - Ultimate Victory

Chamillionaire’s Ultimate Victory hits stores September 18, guest appearances include Krayzie Bone, Lil’ Wayne, Slick Rick and UGK; producers J.R., Play-N-Skillz, and The Runners. I really enjoyed this album, everything is so relative, and I think that’s always the case with Chamillionaire as far as approach. Chamillionaire is deep, lyrically on point, holmes did the damn thing. Stand out tracks are “Industry Groupie,” “Me Breakin’ Up,” “The Ultimate Victory” (oh gawd, I have this on repeat! “this is what I say the moment after I’m winning … thank you.”) and ALL tracks featuring UGK..Lol “Rocky Road” is another great one!  read more »

 50 Cent - Curtis

Oh, what a surprise! 50 Cent’s Curtis leaks! LOL. Curtis is the third studio album by 50 Cent set to release September 11th :coughGRADUATIONcough: The album features some amazing guest appearances from Robin Thicke, Eminem, Nicole Scherzinger and G-Unit’s own Young Buck. As for production, like Kanye, 50 also did some executive work on his LP; other producers include Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Timbaland. I will admit, listening to the clean version makes me want to buy the album even more, it was a couple tracks on it I liked. Dang, so that means I gotta save up for more than a DUB come 9/11?  read more »

ALBUM REVIEW: Lil’ Mo - Pain Paper

 Lil

“The Godmother” Lil’ Mo is back with her third studio album, Pain & Paper, set to release tomorrow! Album appearances include Da Brat, Jim Jones, Fabolous, and Trina. She also worked with producers Jazze Pha, Stargate and writers Sean Garrett and Ne-Yo on this latest project. The album will also include the first single lifted, featuring Jim Jones, entitled “Sumtimes I”. Lil’ Mo is definitely the one to bring that smooth R&B back to the game, for the most part most of the album is slow jams, it’s also some nice feel good club bangers on there to ride in the whip. I think it relates mostly to ladies on some REAL joints yo, a good one is “Sumtimes I” featuring Jim Jones, “Heartbeat” featuring Donny Roc and “Lucky Her”. Ladies and gentleman . . . “The Godmother” is here, now what are you waiting for? “GET UP ON THIS!!!”  read more »

TALIB KWELI - EARDRUM IN STORES AUGUST 21ST!

Talib Kweli is back I apologize, a virtuoso emcee, that which is Talib Kweli has NEVER left! Eardrum is the name of Kweli’s third studio album, released under his own label Blacksmith Records, in stores August 21st! Producers for this LP include Kanye West, Just Blaze, Will.i.am and Timbaland and features from Jean Grae, Lyfe Jennings, Norah Jones, Musiq Soulchild, Justin Timberlake and that’s not even everybody yo! Many, many guest features on this album, I can’t even name them all, it is crazy forreal. Some of my personal favorite joints are “Soon The New Day,” “Oh My Stars,” “More Or Less,” and “Go With Us”! I can’t even really say much about this, your boy ALEX pretty much summed it up, although I like the number of tracks the way they are.  read more »

ALBUM REVIEW: Swizz Beatz - One Man Band Man

Swizz Beatz - One Man Band Man

One of my favorite producer’s, Swizz Beatz, solo debut One Man Band Man drops this month - MAKE SURE YOU GO COP THAT!. Guests appearances include Ruff Ryders’ own Drag-On, Lil’ Wayne, R. Kelly and Chris Martin of Coldplay. Production includes Swizz Beatz, of course, and new-comers Young World Music. The album features the hit “It’s Me Bitches” and the second single lifted, “Money In The Bank”. Overall it’s just a “fun” little record to me; well-produced. Also an album you can throw in the whip, I think my all time favorite track would have to be “Top Down.” - “where ever you are, shine. Whoever you are, shine.”  read more »
